Inside Internships

The Motley Fool 2018 Summer Internships are NOW OPEN!

We are now accepting applications for our 2018 Summer Internships! Check out the Current Openings page for more details, and send us your super impressive application (or applications!) before the January 31, 2018 deadline.

Like the Fool itself, our Summer Internship program continues to evolve, including decisions about our intern group size and who the mentoring teams are. One summer, we had 15 interns, and the next summer, we employed only ten. We like to mix it up each year. And while the prospect of wearing a jester cap alone should entice you to apply, if you're still wondering whether or not you should (you totally should), the FAQ below is a great place to start!

"Do you have any pro tips on how to successfully become a Summer Intern with your company?"

So happy you asked, fellow Fool! When crafting your application, you should know that it's incredibly important for a new Fool to fit perfectly into the role AND our company culture. When we work, we work smart and efficiently together. When our Office Operations and Events Team hosts a Peanut Butter Jelly Time Party, we eat and laugh together. Tell us why you think you can knock this internship out of the park, and sprinkle in your personality while you do it.

We won't sugarcoat it - our summer internship interview process is pretty tough, and we don't cut any corners when it comes to finding the most Foolish of Fools to join us. We ask a lot of our candidates over the entire process, and in turn, our interns will experience an internship unlike any other.

If you're still reading at this point, let us know in your cover letter when you send us your application. That's five bonus points for you!

What We Do

Only the best kind. More information? Ok, ok. We offer internships across all departments at The Motley Fool, including Marketing, Investing, Business Intelligence, Software Development, Basket Weaving, International Business, and Editorial.
Our internships last eight weeks.
Nope! Our internships are offered to students, graduates, career-changers, and life-long learners.
A lot! For the Summer 2017 Intern class, we had a less than 1% acceptance rate. Another pro tip. you ask? Customize your application and make it interesting! We read every single one and seek out the game-changers.
Our internship applications are now OPEN! We are looking for our next group of future Fools, so head over to our Openings page, and send us your Foolish application. Multiple reminders are posted on our Culture Blog and social media platforms until the January 31st deadline.
Of course! We value your time and the contributions you are making to our business, so we offer a competitive market rate.
YES! You’ll have access to free and subsidized stocked kitchens, free and discounted gym memberships, our in-house fitness and wellness program (including classes for yoga, Zumba, meditation, kettlebells), chiropractor, massages, haircuts, manicures & pedicures, Fool events, enrollment in Fool University, a stocked game room, access to all of The Motley Fool’s investing services, and more!
Yes, this is a full-time gig. We offer flexible schedules for our early birds and late risers, but you’ll be averaging around 40 hours a week.
We don’t provide housing, but finding a place in DC in the summer is easy-peasy. Most local universities (George Washington University, American University, Georgetown University, etc.) offer affordable housing options through their unoccupied summer dorms.

Not necessarily. Our office is conveniently located across the street from the King Street Metro Station on the Yellow/Blue line. If you live near a Metro station (or a bus stop that takes you to a Metro station), you won’t need a car. We offer a generous Metro subsidy or parking subsidy, so we’ve got you covered no matter which option you choose!

For sure! We do our best work when wearing our jester caps.
Oh, thank you! We're honored that you want to chat with us more. How are you today? Did you remember to have a healthy breakfast? Feel free to shoot us an email at, and we'll respond as soon as we can.
